RDL 3000 Overview, Basic Configuration and Installation

Wireless Access Products

Overview

The RDL-3000 Overview, Basic Configuration and Installation course is a 1-day non-certification course consisting of 3 modules covering the RDL-3000/RDL-3100 product overview, basic configuration, and link installation. The content in this course is aligned to the 1-day training objectives in QP and hence the focus of the course is deployments in the ATEX Zone-1 locations using the RDL-3000 XP Endurance system. The course therefore focuses on the skills needed by field technicians and customer engineering teams to acquire system knowledge with the constraints of one-day time.

Courses are conducted by AVIAT expert trainers in a mentoring environment backed by their deep technology expertise and experience in implementation of microwave wireless and IP/MPLS networks.

The course is conducted at the Aviat Training locations or can be arranged at customer sites.

Upon successfully completing this course, the technicians and engineering personnel will have gained the necessary expertise to understand and perform hands-on work on the following:

  • The basic functions of RDL-3000/RDL-3100 Ellipse sector controller (SC) and the Remote terminals (RT)- Endurance (ATEX Zone-1), and if required Elte-MT/RAS-Elite/EDGE/Enterprise and the serial gateway solutions (OW/OWS/IWS)
  • Differences and requirements of RDL-3000/RDL-3100 PTP and PMP deployments
  • RDL-3000 systems deployments in non-HazLoc and HazLoc (Zone-1/2) locations
  • Interoperability between the RDL-3000 and RDL-3100 systems based on RDL-3100/v3.12.6+ firmware
  • Basic link parameters in an RDL-3000 wireless link such as frequency requirement, channel size and Tx power
  • Very basic overview of the use of MIMO-A, MIMO-B and redundancy support in RDL-3000
  • Configuring the basic system parameters (channel size, frequency, Tx power and other applicable parameters) for wireless connectivity between the SC and an RT
  • Creating pass-through data path connectivity between the SC and RT
  • Using the built-in diagnostics in the system such as spectrum sweep, link status and the RT scanning look up table for identifying link issues
  • A high-level overview of the RDL-3000 link from installation point of view including the use of surge arrestors, cable length, weatherproofing and grounding requirement. The focus in the installation section of this course shall
  • be on the Ellipse SC and Endurance installation.
  • Link alignment procedures and link performance indicators such as RSSI, SINADR and PER
  • Trainees must be familiar with the wireless and RF systems on a very basic level.
  • Each student must have a laptop with administrative rights to install and run IP networking simulation software.
