Overview

The FlexCore-EPC Overview and Basic Configuration one-day instructor-led course consists of 4 modules focusing on basic overview and configuration. It starts with FlexCore building blocks and NMS, EPC basic nodes and network configuration and is followed by subscriber registration. (Based on FlexCore s/w 13.3.0.-2 features)

Courses are conducted by AVIAT expert trainers in a mentoring environment backed by their deep technology expertise and experience in implementation of microwave wireless and IP networks.

The course is conducted at the Aviat Training locations or can be arranged at customer sites.

Upon successfully completing this course, participants shall understand and acquire hands-on knowledge of the product to effectively use the following expertise:

  • Basic FlexCore-EPC core building blocks from LTE deployment perspective
  • FlexCore-EPC inter-node interfaces and the S1 interface connecting with the eNB
  • Basic functions of MME, SGW, HSS, PGW, PCRF and SPR
  • High level network administrator and subscriber administrator tasks in FlexCore EPC
  • Basic networking, Service and Subscription Profile definition and configuration
  • UE IP address allocation configuration and IMSI to IP address association for a UE
  • Basic FlexCore management attributes such as network configuration backup and restore
  • Checking subscriber connectivity using FlexCore-EPC subscriber management module
  • SNMP based event monitoring of FlexCore EPC
  • Participants must have a working knowledge of the LTE RAN.
  • Each student must have a laptop with administrative rights to install and run IP networking simulation software.

  • Main functions of the FlexCore-EPC in an LTE network
  • EPC MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF and HSS/SPR nodes
  • Inter-node communications and protocols
  • FlexCore-EPC deployment configurations
  • Requirements and performance of the centralized, distributed, and synchronized HSS FlexCore-EPC deployments
  • Basic level FlexCore-EPC node and network configurations
  • MME/SGW/PGW/PCRF/HSS basic configuration
  • Configuring an elementary LTE network within the FlexCore-EPC
  • Configuring the required parameters in different FlexCore-EPC nodes
  • High level APNs definition, DHCP server setup, PLMN, tracking area ID
  • UE services set up with basic QoS
  • IP address-based packet classification rules in PGW for DL/UL traffic
  • GBR and non-GBR traffic type and ARP configuration
  • Basic UE subscription profile setup
  • Registration of UEs with the FlexCore-EPC HSS
  • Configuring/selecting basic parameters for the UE
  • Installing subscriber security parameters
  • Enabling the Milenage protocol for Authentication
  • Associating the UE to a closed subscriber group (CSG)

Classroom

  • Sufficient in size to handle all participants, instructor, desks, chairs, classroom equipment. The room must have enough 110 AC (220) AC power and air conditioning to operate equipment, all students client’s PC’s and the server or radio as required.
  • This course can be done online with full hands-on at the level of this course if customer has access to their ClearView server online. Otherwise, the system web-UI shall be used for walk-through demonstration of features and functionalities by the instructor.
