Simple management

The management system is easy to learn and use with its advanced GUI, templates and well-defined installation instructions.

The centralized database keeps the integrated system tools updated, enabling all users to see the network status in real-time. ProVision INM provides a single platform management solution for Aviat’s mission critical microwave networks.

Accelerate time-to-revenue with fast service provisioning

An overarching network manager, ProVision INM simplifies network management and improves profitability and competitiveness through operational efficiency.

Its advanced graphical user interface (GUI), automated wizards, and plug-and-play features guide users through tasks and shortens service provisioning times, resulting in faster time to revenue and a reduction in operational expenses.

Highly scalable

ProVision INM is highly flexible and is available in configurations to fit the various needs of different network operators. From small networks to very large deployments, the platform is designed to match the scalability requirements of your network and can support up to thirty thousand network elements, several hundred thousand connections and up to 150 concurrent users operating the network.

ProVision INM can also be configured as an EMS-focused solution with deep troubleshooting capabilities. It can seamlessly integrate with other OSS systems and processes through various industry standard and Northbound Interfaces (NBIs).

APCO 2012: Broadband for Public Safety in Sight

It is August and Minneapolis, Minn., is readying itself for the annual gathering for the APCO show. However, this year, the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) show will be much different as the promise of broadband for public safety is now within sight! But before we start the sprint to the finish line, we still have some hurdles left to overcome:

FirstNet board decisions on network requirements and vendor choices for implementation      (that is once a board is in place) States definition of needs requirements including cooperative agreements between states      and local municipalities

We will hear how systems integrators are developing business models that help limit the OPEX costs for the networks and bring the critical technical LTE skills to the party.

With very difficult financial limitations, innovation and teamwork will be required to make this network work. Look for vendors that bring new ideas to the game that help address these monetary challenges. How do we help limit CAPEX and OPEX while still offering the outstanding reliability/performance required of a mission critical network?

Aviat Networks knows backhaul will play a much larger role in the financial measures of the broadband network (perhaps as much as 30 percent of CAPEX)! Our solutions take advantage of existing deployed backhaul radios in public safety networks (more than 18,000 radios deployed in state/local networks today) and those of our competitors (estimated in excess of 30,000 radios). “Reuse—whenever possible” must be part of every conversation.

In addition, Aviat Networks’ ProVision monitoring/management platform and NOC Managed Services allow the state/local entity to much more cost effectively maintain their networks…to mission-critical standards. OPEX savings of more than 25 percent may be achieved by being able to predict problems before they occur and to be able to quickly diagnose and address them when they do occur. IP networks involve more complex failure mechanisms than TDM networks. Aviat Networks’ Advanced NOC Services capability offers the IP insight needed to fully understand loading, demand changes, networking issues quickly and avert bottlenecks before they occur.

If you would like to hear more on any of these topics, I invite you to come and see us at APCO.

Microwave Wireless Backhaul Case Study: Tooele County (Utah)

Image via Wikipedia

In an all-indoor configuration, Aviat Networks’ Eclipse Packet Node platform has delivered flexibility to Tooele County, Utah, to transition its partially mountainous, rural legacy TDM network to IP when the traffic demands it. When greater functionality is required, the modular nature of the platform is called upon to ease installation and maintenance.

“The entire design is highly modular, and we are able to drop in new network cards with the latest technology. We just swap new cards for old,” says Dave Williams, communications manager for Tooele County. “So not only does Eclipse Packet Node provide native TDM support for our latency-sensitive, mission-critical traffic today but also allows us the flexibility to migrate to native all-IP traffic as our applications evolve. With this platform, we get the best of both worlds.”

RFS and Aviat Enable Top Tier Network Expansion Case study: RFS and Aviat Enable Top Tier Network Expansion
Aviat Networks, Inc. and RFS were tasked with supporting the backhaul needs for a nationwide, rural 4G LTE rollout. Aviat Networks was hired by a Tier 1 North American carrier to support its backhaul needs for a nationwide, rural LTE rollout. This comprehensive expansion of the carrier’s 4G LTE network will ultimately bring best-in-class wireless service to 300 million customers throughout the US. An extremely aggressive plan was imposed for installing the network infrastructure, which includes Aviat’s CTR 8540 and CTR 8312 microwave solutions as well as ODU 600 split-mount radios and Aviat’s ProVision network management system – within only a few months.

What customers and analysts are saying

ProVision network management tool has been tremendously wonderful…It makes troubleshooting so easy and quick… I believe the future with Aviat Networks will be a good one.

Chief of Area Connectivity and Transmission Engineering, Entel Chile

As a router, CTR 8540 will enable a range of new IP and VPN services for our mobile backhaul and enterprise applications. Unlike other microwave radios that require adding an expensive, separate IP/MPLS router, CTR 8540 is the only product we found that integrates the microwave radio and IP routing features we need. As the incumbent carrier in Chile, Entel places importance on reducing the number of devices we provision at each cell site to save space and money. CTR does that for us by combining these two functions in one solution.
