The highest power digital microwave radio ever built.
The IRU 600 , with its Extra- and Ultra-High Power (UHP) options, surpasses all alternative solutions in transmitter power and system gain. This translates into extended path distances, more unlocked ability, smaller and less expensive antennas, and a reduction in tower-related costs. The EHP/UHP options can also remove the need to deploy space diversity for high link availability, reducing the number of antennas on the tower.
And since it is located all-indoor alongside the indoor unit (eg: Eclipse) it is easily accessible for maintenance and repairs in all weather conditions, without the need for a specialist crew to climb the tower, saving even more in operational costs.

INTRODUCING IRU 600 UHP
Breakthrough capacity & reliability for mission-critical networks
The IRU600 UHP option is available in the 6 and 11 GHz bands with single-channel power output of up to +40 dBm (measured at the RFU interface before filter and branching losses). This capability is an impressive 10 dB higher, or more than 5x the output power, compared to other available indoor radio solutions.
The IRU600’s enhanced power output enables the use of smaller antennas compared to other leading alternatives, which translates into a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Characteristics
Features & Benefits
Highest Capacity. Up to 3x higher
The IRU 600 UHP enables multi-gigabit capacity links, including support for wide channels up to 80 MHz, 4096QAM modulation, XPIC, ACAP and ACCP operation, and advanced Layer 1 Link Aggregation for multi-channel bonding. It also supports Multi-Band options such as 6+11 GHz, which result in link capacities that are up to 3x higher, or more, than earlier product technologies.
Reducing Tower TCO without Compromising Reliability
Tower-related costs are a significant part of network TCO. With the IRU 600 UHP, network operators can decrease antenna sizes on existing links, augment capacity without increasing antenna sizes, cut the need for space diversity, or replace larger 6 GHz antennas with smaller ones in the 11 GHz band.
In a US state-wide government network the IRU 600 UHP enabled the agency to reduce antenna sizes on 97 links, remove space diversity on 12 links, and decrease the number of six, eight, and 10-ft diameter antennas by more than 36%, compared to the next alternative, resulting in huge cost savings, including avoiding expensive tower refits and strengthening that would have been needed to support more and larger antennas.
Tough, Durable, and Secure
Designed for high reliability, when coupled with Aviat’s Eclipse modular indoor unit (INU) IRU 600 is FIPS 197 and FIPS 140-2 Level 2 compliant — the only all-indoor carrier grade microwave radio platform offering both these security sets.
Reduce Tower Costs and Loading
Tower costs related to antennas can be the biggest driver of OPEX and CAPEX (TCO). With Extra (EHP) and Ultra High Power (UHP) options, IRU 600 incorporates the very latest in RF technology, to be ready for the future data demands of mission-critical networks. With 5x more transmitter power than competing alternatives, IRU 600 can enable 50% smaller antennas while supporting the same link distance, capacity and availability targets, reducing weight and wind loading on the tower by as much as 75%, reducing CAPEX, lowering shipping costs and accelerating installation. If you are leasing your towers this can also result in very large OPEX savings, year after year.
Why All-indoor?
All-indoor radios offer easy access for maintenance and upgrades without the need to climb towers. These radios are ideal for deployment in harsh environments, like public safety and utility networks. Moreover, all-indoor radios, due to their better cooling ability, can support exceptionally high-power performance.
